A Bit of background, Ive got a 1.6td golf engine, that im trying to fit to my bus. Ive got a diesel sump but unlike the golf sump there is nowhere for me to return the oil from the turbo back into the sump
So, trying to avoid asking questions through fear of being told off, I decided to research the problem of the turbo oil return fitting myself. and ended up buying a turbo *cheap* oil return kit off brickwerks
have you fitted a manifold from a jx? As i think they are different shape to one out of a golf, might make the turbo further away?
your looks like a different angle to mine
mine is a 1.9td (my flexi is slightly longer, due to longer engine)
can't imagine brickwerks selling something the wrong size, got to be something else like manifold, are you using a T25 sump?
Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like the golf turbo and exhaust manifold - that kit is made for the jx (T25) turbo and manifold, the turbo sits more tucked in and lower, and it definitely fits (its what I have on my van).
Have you fitted up the t25 sump - can't tell from photos.
If it is the golf turbo and manifold then yeah you'll have to get a custom return pipe made up - they haven't supplied anything wrong, its just you're trying to put it on a different setup...
If you can get hold of a JX exhaust manifold and exhaust, then you'll be able to bolt up a JX exhaust downpipe, and as long as the silencer you have is a diesel one, it'll all bolt together. Also means when you need to replace it a few years down the line it'll be off the shelf. You'll also be able to fit all the standard inlet hoses, it will be a much neater install. JX is the engine code of the 1.6TD in the T25, so the bits are all designed to fit together in the space of the engine bay - the actual engine is pretty much the same as what you have, just all the ancillaries are designed for that engine bay and installation.
You've got the golf manifold and turbo set up, the turbo sits above the manifold, and I'm not sure if it will physically fit with the diesel engine mounts you've got - have you tried?
Much easier to find the JX manifold than the turbo, but the turbo you have might be ok - the key is seeing if it has K14 as a part number on the ali plate - are you able to see this?
Its a KKK which is a start - perhaps its part of the casting - have a look for KKK K14 somewhere - if its the SB engine code then I'm pretty sure its a K14
Can be put together without a turbo but wont be great, will be flat as a fart...
Should be able to find the exhaust manifold for not much money...
