I've read you can't turbo-charge an engine that wasn't designed to be turbo-charged in the first instance.
Apparently it's all down to oil feeds to some vital parts that are present in the turbo-charged engine but aren't present in the non-charged ones.
Not sure, but I'd guess it would eventually result in a short-lived or wrecked engine.

Perhaps someone could confirm this.
