hello hello, just done the head gasket on my beloved bus but it sounds very tappety! had to build it up with out doing valve clearences (on works time), where oh where can i buy valve shims? cheers for looking :D

I got my last lot from GSF. But that was a while ago.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Where are you mate....I've got the tools and shims if you are local.
Are you sure the head gasket is fitted the correct way around? as I understand it can be fitted wrongly which blocks the oil feel to the head.

im sure i fitted it right, i fix motors for a living. i just didnt have time to check clearences as i was doing the job in works time and my boss is a right "veryniceperson"! haha. i live in stoke. where did u get tool from mate? cheers :ok

Well I'm in Nottingham if you fancy a drive out (about an hours drive?)
In a past life I worked at a main VW dealership and bought my own tools (25 years ago...Hazet depressing tools, shim removing pliers and the shims I just accumulated over time)

0.2 - 0.3mm inlet
0.4 - 0.5mm exhaust measured and adjusted whilst hot
