Fitting Syncro Mirrors

Post by PetenAli »

Got myself some Syncro (not LT) mirrors and just working out how to best to fit them.

They are part nos 251 857 513 F & 251 857 514 H.

I have had a good look on here and at the Wiki. My plan is to to fit the bottom brackets straightforwardly using Brickwerks security allen screws. The top brackets are more interesting 'cos they have to be got right first time. My plan is to follow the Wiki advice and use M5 rivnuts and 5x16 countersunk screws. Also need to make sure that the top brackets will fit without putting stress on the bottom ones.

Just wanted to check if anyone has any other suggestions before I get the drill out...?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

I took the scientific approach.... Fitted the bottom bracket, then held top bracket in place and pilot drilled the holes.
I didn't bother With security fixings, just used self tappers

Thanks Einstein!! Did you paint the holes or grease them after drilling to keep the rust away?

Cheers,

I painted the holes with dinotrol black wax, hopefully will keep the rust bay
