eber control unit
I have looked at the eber control unit that is fitted in my van and it has the number 20 1607 50 0000 on it,
if i find this is the problem my eber does not work can i replace it with another control unit that has a slightly different number which i can see on the german ebay , maybee a 251 597 50 0000 or a 251425 50 0000 .
Basically whats the differerance between them ??
cheers

20 1607 50 0000 is for a D3L unit.
25 1597 50 000 may be for a D2L unit.
25 1425 50 000 may be for a D7L or a D9W unit.
So what heater do you have?

Re: eber control unit
Just looked definetly a B2l, fished out the documentaion that has kindly been sent to me and it shows item 33 as steuergarat as either 20 1607 50 0000 or 251597 50 0000 as the unit, just going to power it up to see what it does?

Re: eber control unit
Fan runs but cant get any heat out yet found the following
1- Pump was clicking but no fuel to unit, took apart the fittings to the pump - full of crud inside- cleaned crud no fuel was getting through pump to the unit = now ok.
2,unit is of the van underneath on the floor but the earth stap is not in connection with the van- made a jumper wire to get case of unit earthed with van.
3- thermostat seems to be working - turned to 7 and the unit tries and then as you turn it down it turns off and you can feel the thermstat click internally.
So at the moment the fan runs, the fuel pump clicks and is getting there but after a few seconds it switches off.
Any ideas please
Cheers

Re: eber control unit
Prime the fuel line and heater with fuel first - disconnect fuel pump connections and keep tapping 12v across the pump terminals until all air is purged. Try again. Ensure that the thermostat is calling for heat - with current temperatures it is easy for it to switch itself off.

Re: eber control unit
voltage at the battery 12.64 v, and voltage at the glow plug 6.5 volts
Re: eber control unit
thermo stat calling for heat put it up to 7
Re: eber control unit
having real trouble purging the fuel line, run out of time for today, does purging make a big differance between it not working and working?
The unit has not worked scince i got the van because the previous owner had disconnected it, he says it was working ????????
Will give it another shot tommorrow

Re: eber control unit
I would like to see higher voltage at the glow plug whilst it is starting - try connecting a battery charger to the battery whilst trying to start - it will give you that bit more oooomph. There mustn't be any air in the fuel line - it will lead to lack of start up and heating problems.
