Re: Andy Tats Hinklevagon
Hi Aiden, sorry , Heres a link, easier than me writing it up
http://www.power-tec.co.uk/showcat.asp? ... air+System" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
yanky bulls*** miracle stuff, but it is a very effective tool,
when panals get dinted /dented/dinged(that old chestnut again
)you either use a hammer and dolly or jack or external stretching rams whatever but it needs access to often awkward areas, with this the small tasbs or washers or whichever you aqre using for the specific job are stud welded on and stay there as in the picky with abouit 7 on on his door btm, the puller then tugs on theses and as ist pulling you tap the metal and keep at it then twist them of and move along or just put 20 or 30 on and go from there.
the individual handheld one works in a simmilar way but the tip is fixed to the handle and you make contact with the door, it instantly spots it self on and you squeeze and hence pull a bit(adjusatble) then twist and move along it is instant spot and instant removal no waiting around,
we also have bigger frames to work down the side of say a tran-shyte !
if though the dent has been b**gered about with before as in stretched and hammered and then filled its 10 times harder to do ! as the metal cannot return to its previous shape due to the prior involvement of a knocking iron
there you have it

Re: Andy Tats Hinklevagon
You and your nasty silicone, this stuff b elongs in the kitchen/bathroom/dustbin!

Its not bad in there now I can see it, cant guarantee we got it all of so will tape up and apply a proper mastic that will both bond the hi top and seal it also is very overpaintable ,so that should be that area sorted for good so to speak.

Re: Andy Tats Hinklevagon
cheers for the link and explanation, clever bit of kit that, great to save the original metal rather than weld in a replacement where possible - I've a few dings that could do with that

Yep its a nice tool, they are available s/hand but still dear unless you have either spare cash for toys or enough work for one,
no pickies today, as it was final hand sanding and degreasing and then full mask up so will be starting to put the paint on tommorow, well when we decide just what colour to use

I'm impressed, you noted his name - I'll tell the girls he's famous!!
After 2 years of bugger all work since getting stuck into the van thing i have started to get some paid work in which has made a mess of my schedule.
Hope to get it running in the next couple of weeks and can the start with the small bits on the bodywork. Eventually got a decent compressor so can now run some air tools to help

getting there sloooowwwlllyyyyy

Well its gone into the oven
this tea time so painting begins, sealing the hitop around the gutter area (after removing the bath sealant )! then painting the hitop first as we cant really do that and the rest at the same time, (cant keep a wet edge)
need to decide on the colour though
left camera behind so will do the picks tommorow

Re: Andy Tats Hinklevagon
Well it in't oven,

no point posting reams of it taped up..
self etched the metal, now primered etc will flat off and put a little colour on tommorow.
took the handles back to metal as with the 1/4 light bars and bumpers sanded as needed, these will get etched, primered base black then satin laquer all nicely baked on so should last a while , mine are still like new 9 month later.
more picks when its a lovely maroon and cream.
Busy cleaning up all the bits to refit.

Blinkin heck Mike that's shiny
Do you supply the sunglasses with each resto
Suppose this means I need to get some proper vehicle washing kit instead of the hose and yard brush

Re: Andy Tats Hinklevagon
thats cos its under shadowless striplighting in the booth, meant to show everything
it does make stuff look artificially shiny, that said fibreglass does look a bit m uch when glossed but I would leave it to weather and tone down, that or hit it with the yard brush as you used to, (car wash also good for it) the body will have a finnish more akin to a normal shine, note the only thing I didnt remove was the no plate lights as they looked a little er ah shall we say suspect around the terminals, read I didnt want to snap them.....other than that paint will be un derneath everything which should help,
