Should I buy?

Post by grungetank »

Hi everyone. This is my first post on here.

We're looking at a T25 high top on ebay and was wondering if it seems a reasonable price. It's just gone straight through it's MOT with no advisorys. I'm concerned that it says there's some bubbling of the paintwork around the window. Is this a problem to repair?

Any help would be very helpful. Hopefully I'll be driving around in a lovely camper very soon!

Keep up the good work everyone. Love this forum!

:)

You have to have a close look I think. Can't really tell how advanced it is from the pics. Maybe the seller could post some close-up pics. If the rust is around the side windows only, it shouldn't be too bad to sort out but you might need to drop the windows out? The more difficult problem would be if it's around the windscreen as any rust there tends to make them leak into the footwell when it rains. Looks like a funky van though!

The MOT only deals with critical parts of a van and as T25s are robustly built they tend to pass. What you need to look out for is rusted wheel arches, floorpans etc. You also need to drive it to discover if the engine/gearbox is knackered. Also take somebody with you who knows these motors if you can. I am sure that other people will add to my advice. Good hunting and do not just go for the first one you see.

Looks like a nice bus, remember new romney is near the sea and sea air corrodes busses, I should know.
Go and have a viewing there's some people near you on here that may be willing to have a look with you for the price of a beer?

ALWAYS VIEW BEFORE BUYING!

Cheers guys.

Was gonna take someone who knows what to look for when buying one of these but thought I'd get some advice first.

Cyrus, I used to live by the sea and my poor beetle suffered for it...

Well hopefully it'll be a good bus and I'll be driving it to many a festival this summer!
