Arghh dash wiring chaos !!

Hi
Please any advice I'm all confused
when i first got her she had no working dash at all (exept speedo) so on investigation noticed the pcb ribbon was a mess and so puchased another
However when I plugged it in everything is wrong
with ignition on:
1. both fuel and temp go to maximum with the temp light staying on
2. indicators make the pre-heat light flash
3. lights on make the indicator light come on
4. no battery or oil light comes on when i turn the ignition on either
5. no pre-heat light when pre-heating
I've looked at all the wiring and everything looks like it should be where it is !
the dash has the same number 805 on it
it's a 1983 diesel if that helps

Handbrake light works tho

any help/advice greatly appreciated as I really don't know where to start

Have you got the correct ribbon? My 2.1 petrol also has 805 on it.

Yeah pretty sure, the guy I got it from was quite knowledgeable also it has the pre-heat light

what sort of fuses do you have ? ceramic or blade

was the connector on the old dash horizontal or vertical , in 83 it should be vertical and you should have ceramic fuses like vw beetles /bays

a post 86 dash will have a horizonatl connector , they are NOT interchangeable unless you change some of the wires in the connector.

also some 86 dash did not have bod circuit as your 83 dash
