I drove a mile down the road and guess what .... Still leaking oil! Did you get your problem sorted with them?. The mechanic that looked at it and did all of the test rang him on my behalf and he still said it was a fault with the carbs or timing, he had to hang the phone up on the end because he wouldn't listen to him. I called him back and he had the cheek to say does he know what he is doing and that I need to take it to a vw specialist for them to look at it. Costing me more money and to probably get the same result! :|

My problem never did get sorted and I ended up sourcing and fitting a replacement engine. I would never recommend them, I'm not alone!

What was wrong with your engine then? . I'm getting someone elso to fit the new tappets. I can't be bothered with the hastle of trying to get them to fix it. It might cost me more money but at least I know it's being done correctly. And not using old crappy part just to save a few pounds

Hello,

Hydraulic tappets wearing out.....get real :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Check the CYLINDER HEAD TORQUES.

DO THEM IN THE RIGHT ORDER

SET YOUR TAPPETS AT 1 1/2 TURNS

I'll bet the timing is wrong too, cos 12 o clock is not TDC.

Have the carbs been jetted for a 2 ton van.

Just asking,

Cordialement,

:ok
