coolant level senser
I've just replaced the coolant level senser with a new one. One the first start upit went out after briefly flashing but evey time after that it just flashes constantly showing there to be no coolant, which of course there is, it's full. Any suggestions ?

Re: coolant level senser
then you have a earth fault, or a wiring/connector fault
there are a number of connectors and earths to check....
one is under the coil
the other is the 7 pin connector in the junction box
and the 4 pin connector in the same box
All brown coloured wires

Bridge the 2 terminals out (simulating a full tank) switch the ignition on and see what happens. It should flash to do self-check and then go out ... that eliminates the sensor. Where did you buy the new sensor from ?

Re: coolant level senser
I had the problem that would be intermittent, sometimes it would do it's check and stay off then other times it would stay flashing, even depended on whether I parked on a hill! well I knew the tank was brimmed so when I connected the two wires together at the header tank the flashing light didn't go out which indicated a wiring/earth fault. eventually I found it to be a loose screw on the back of the dash temp gauge - there is a three pronged connector chip thing that has a screw above it and it was loose, now tightened and light works as it should

Thanks for all the advice, I shall get wire wiggling. I bought the senser from VW Heritage.
