Do you really think its okay to race around and tear up the landscape like that? Is it really legal? Not to mention how you treat the wildlife.

No real terrain problems in the desert, despite being in a Saab 900 (and usually towing a broken-down Lada)

I think that me educating one gambian guy on some aspects of motor vehicle/plant/marine engineering fo nearly 2 years including environmental impact on disposal of waste oils and assosiated contaminents more than outweighs me DRIVING LIKE A MADMAN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES WHERE I SAW NO LIVING THING FOR 3 DAYS. Lets have a reality check here. TIA

Putting tracks in the sand is hardly tearing up the landscape.

So you are back at zero positive karma with your eco-account? I dont think the positive stuff you`ve done justifies driving like that.

Just trying to spread awareness among syncronauts. I`ve spent 5 years studying wildlife management and arctic ecology, so I know where I stand.

Theres vegetation being torn up in the vid. If you consider the landscape with lots of sand and wind it`s easy to conclude that erosion won`t let that heal very quickly. Theres also absolutely no good reason to drive through flocks of seabirds on the shore like that.

Nah I dont think so. I remember a thread here about a few European registered Syncros tearing up the English countryside after a big VW show and there was a few members here not too happy!

Ecology is ecology be it from the Arctic or the Equator ........

When I read your first posting, I thought you were being sarcastic,but now I and other readers of this forum know differently. Since you`ve taken the moral high ground,I presume that you have also conveyed your displeasure to the organisers/participants of the charity rallies such as Plymouth-Banjul, Cape Town Challenge,Budapest-Bamako and other rallies such as Dakar,Rallye des Pharaons,Trans Oriental Rally etc.etc.
Or is it easier to pick on a small group of guys having a bit of fun?

I dont know about moral high ground... But I do sometimes feel the need to air my opinions. Are you saying I shouldn´t say anything unless I go after everyone involved in offroading? Organised events, no. But here in Norway we have a huge problem with illegal offroading. I am quite involved in a couple of organisations working FOR the environment. Organised lobbying, trying to educate folks about the consequences of making new tracks, disturbing wildlife and so on. Cause there are consequences. We as 4wd drivers just have to make up our minds about how much we want to learn and if we care.

Wasn´t really trying to pick on anyone. But I do stand by my opinions, and my my right to comment on threads in this forum. Even if someone finds it annoying. Sorry, wasn´t trying to be sarcastic But I dont think I´ve been rude or out of line.
