wheel carrier
hi.i want to put the spare wheel on the front of the van like the t2s.only thing is im not sure how much it will affect the cooling of the engine.its a 1.7d watercooled.anyone have any idea?ta

It will block all the cooling air from going through the radiator. Don't do it.

thats what i was worried about but thought maybe enough would still get through.never seen a t25 with it so obviously its a bad idea lol.thanks for the advice tho.

vw didnt pay designers loads to hide the spare under the van for a nothing other than summit to do!

its not actually gonna be a spare wheel.its just gonna look like one.it was actually gonna be a storage place for jumpleads and a few tools etc.seen one on a bay window.pull the wheel cover off and there was a small door in it and they filled it with a few tools.so basically its a cupboard.did that make sense?lol

A member out in Australia has the spare fitted up in front of the bullbars on a 2.1 syncro, no cooling problems whatsoever. It was a subject of some discussion in syncro circles reletively recently.

Other storage option make more sense, roofbox, tailgate box, under front seats etc.

would work on my van! But TBH, if you must move your spare (or in your case, have a neat little tool cupboard) I think they look ace on the back door if you have a roof ladder as well?
