Alternative toddler bunk for pop tops!

Post by fodtommo »

After a lot of thinking I came up with the following solution to an extra bed for our litle one, It will probably only work on side hinged tops.

The space over the cab is perfect fr a sideways toddler and leaves the other top bunk free for his much older sister. Thought people might be interested in how ive used it.

I used an old tent pod to make a 'door / safety net which is screwed to the van and pop top with self tappers and retaining strips, and I cable tied the other side to the pop top frame.

There is a base with battens to keep it flat on the curved roof and cot mattresses are the perfect fit!

I have teste it with an excited toddler and he cant escape!

Its nice as you can have it closed fully or just the mossie / safety net.

It also folds flat with the top and the mattress etc all fits under the pop top, so nothing else to carry.

Any way pics tell a thousand words!..

That looks clever, very well thought out. You'll have to report back with how your toddler got on. :ok
