Rear mounted Moped rack

Post by sarran1955 »

Hello,

I intend to go to the German F1 Grand Prix this year, and would like to carry my lightweight (approx 40kgs) moped on a fixing at the rear. The van has a genuine VW towbar, and I was thinking of using the 2 towball bolt holes as the locating point for a rail on the rear bumper. I have full welding and workshop facilities.

I have seen this sort of thing on much larger Motorhomes, but never had a chance of a close inspection.

Does any fellow member have experience of this or any ideas??

If I get a working prototype up would any one else be interested :?:

Cordialement,

Hey, I'm looking for something similar, but for a more heavier 125. I've seen these on the forum,

You would be fine with the Junior rack for £65

I was looking at the scooter rack.

Hello,

See photo 1, the mounting plate is 5mm 50x50 mm angle, drilled at 17 mm to pass 16 mm bolts ,: in place of the 2 bolt 50 mm ball towing hitch (fixing to a flanged plate)

Attached with 2 x 16 mm dia 10.1 tensile bolts and contact washers Torgue 30 dan.

Works great, moped in now for its engine re-build, then maybe same (red) paint job as the van :)

i have a 1971 mobylette i might swap for something interesting, it's not immaculate but it's a moby! can anyone explain to me the towbar on a t25, where does it mount into? ihave seen some but they seem to be short ones that bolt into the bodywork.

secondly, i have a discovery 2 land rover towbar, do you think it's not too hard to fab something up to connect it to the t25?
