info needed with 1.9 to 2.1 engine swap
I have an 83 T25 that still has the stock 1.9 engine in it and its time to rebuild or replace. I have a rebuilt 2.1 on hand, But I am not sure if the carb and intake set up will fit on the 2.1. Will I be able to use the 1.9 intake and carb on the 2.1 other than changing the jets in the carb.

Re: info needed with 1.9 to 2.1 engine swap
Hi mate,
i don't know if this is the answer you need....BUT>> twice we have taken a 1.9 DG out and put a 2.1 DJ in....using the same ancillaries and carb. Didn't even rejet as run on LPG 99.9% of the time. Didn't buy anything, other than a 2.1 Distributer which didn't seem to make the blindest bit of difference to the running!
Hope this is of use. I think the 1.9 DF is different, though.

Re: info needed with 1.9 to 2.1 engine swap
If it's a stock 1.9 DG then it all fits with no adjustments... not even the jets
Is your 2.1 a DJ or MV?
the 2.1 MV is basically a 1.9 but it's a long stroke engine.
In that it sucks for longer, squeezes more, bangs bigger, blows longer... so no adjustment of the stock pierburg jets are necessary.... good news huh?
If it was a bigger bore then it would, but it's not

I am not sure if it is an DJ or MV. How would I be able to find out?

Your van will be early cooling system ... all 2.1s are late system so that has to be swapped one way or the other. Is the 2.1 out of a manual or auto ?

Yep - can concur with this.....the late on to early makes for some Frankenstien water system.....but we had to....couldn't swap all at the time. But it works - may not look pretty, especially when hacked again for the gas....but it works.

Indeed but I'm pointing out to our new friend what obstacles need to be overcome/re-engineered, if he/she chucks the old style DG on the deck and looks at the DJ/MV/SS it won't go straight in. You've also by-passed a critical part of what I posted .....
