Likewise; i picked up an Audi 80 Quattro Avant SE from our local Audi garage back in about 1994/5 and was feeling pretty pleased with myself for getting this 6 month old car for about 25% off list.

The salesman then told me that the bloke who had traded in my car had done it to buy something else I should take a look at. I was lead off to the back of the garage where a new RS2 was being prepped for the owner. The car allegedly came with a man from Audi whose job it was to take the new owner out for the day and show him how not to kill himself!

It was lovely. I thanked the salesman profusely for making my new car feel so ordinary.

IIRC Audi employed the same people that Porsche used (Audi/Porsche link on the RS2) to train 959 drivers on delivery.

Back in 1990 I was lucky enough to have access to a 959 for 2 days as part of a turbocharger evaluation scheme JCB were going through at the time. I am sure the directors cooked up a sick scheme to gain access to some fun turbocharged cars just for their own pleasure, instead of improving the performance of their JCB's.

Anyway, I digress. As part of my evaluation agreement with the Porsche dealership I had to attend a 1/2 day drivers course at a test track near Warwick (name forgot) and was shown the features of the 959 and allowed to test its safety features with supervision. Only then would the insurer sign me off for road use :-)

Happy Days.
