Fog Telltale wiring?

Post by si macc »

Passed last year on MOT but this year its been pulled up on the fog light switch. Previously was fitting with simple switch without light on the lower dash but now have proper VW. Managed to swap over with the new one no problem but not sure how to wire up the switch to get the telltale light working. Just need a simple way as I've seen some people have theirs wired up to only come on when engine is running and lights are on (unless this is the only way!)

Thanks in advance.

This is what the MOT man's looking for...

So - no need to tie it in with the headlights (but it's the usual), but it must have a working tell-tale.

It says 'coloured tag' does this mean just a sticker?! I'm assuming not. So if there's no need for the tell tale to come on with the Headlights can I just run 12 volts onto the other pin?

If the switch just exposes a different colour when operated, then it's good. So long as there's a muppet-proof simple visual "It's ON!"...
