Calor gas bottles

Post by Tony Tone »

Hi,

I have just bought a 4.5kg cylinder to replace the 907 one.

Problem is it wont fit in the lower cuboard unless I use it lying on its side ?. Is this ok ?.

I can relocate it so it's in a higher cuboard but its easier to use it lying down if this is ok.

No gas bottles must always be used and stored upright.

My post on same subject previously:
There is no way that you should be running any gas appliance with the bottle on its side. I saw a bottle fall on its side on a camp site 40 years ago - there was an immediate jet of flames 5 foot high coming out of the gas cooker that was being used. Luckily no one was hurt but it could have been a disaster if it hadn't been outside.
Resite the bottle so that it is upright or get a smaller one that will fit there upright.

Cheers for the advice.

I moved it to the cupboard above and drilled a couple of big holes in the floor to vent it. The top gas bottle sits slightly higher than the top of the fridge but I'm assuming that the height of the bottle in realtion to the appliances isn't a relevant issue.

At least it's not on it's side !!, disaster averted there :)
