I'm about to replace the seals on my push rods and I've never done it before. I've read the Wiki article on Aircooled engines.
2 questions:
Can you tell me if I need to drain the oil before removing the rocker cover? There is also a mention in the Wiki article that you need a torque wrench - is it absolutely vital to have one of these?
I have a 2.0l 1981 T25 Aircooled
Many thanks.

No you dont need to drain the oil and yes a torque wrench is a good idea. Absolutely vital? too loose and it'll knock and possibly work loose and break stuff your engine your call.

You could strip the thread or pull the stud out of the head, Nuts and bolts need to be neither too lose or too tight.avant-garde wrote:...and if the bolts are on as tight as can be then what?

Re: quick rocker cover/oil question
Okay, point taken. I'll buy a torque wrench tomorrow. Does anyone know what size socket I'll need?
Also can you tell me if all the bolts are tightened up to 11lb? If not then can you tell me which ones please?

Many thanks.
