Exhaust

Post by blotty »

Hello All - I'm still finding my way around my new van and I think this question is perfect for this forum. OK I need a new exhaust (back box only) and I have two options. One I found one ebay, £30, seem very reasonable and seems to be the right part. And the other I found at Cool Air (very helpful on the phone) at £99.00. The links to both are below. I think the Cool Air price is about right for what it is. So how can the other company be selling at £32. It is new not second hand. Is it like tyres, you get good ones and cheap ones. Does it make a difference? If anyone has any experience of this I'd be grateful to hear from you.
Thanks in advance.
Chris.

I had a good quality 1.6td silencer i had welded it over the years but in the end it needed replacing.Purchased a cheapy on ebay think it was forty quid.Problem is that the baffles in it cause back pressure and effect the performance.Buying cheap some times effect quality.

I am running one of the cheap German ones from Ebay on my van - 3 years and its still in good nick. They aren't cheap and nasty ones either. I doubt that you would get many more years out of the £100 one than the cheap one to be honest.

£32 ... I'll give it 6 months if it's made of bean cans
T25's eat exhausts
quality is worth fitting as fitting exhausts is quite a minefield, you don't want to do it frequently
if you are keeping the van for a while fit a stainless

The ones from Germany on Ebay are good solid ones - none of your "bean cans" there.
