speedo glass

Post by nrxx »

Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the curved speedo glass from the binnacle for cleaning? I mean without destroying the plastic!
Cheers

Not sure but you can take the speedo out and get into it to clean

Re: speedo glass - clock/tacho swap

Post by langb20 »

Hi all, anyone got any further ideas on this?
I've got a good condition binnacle base, even has both the top platic tabs! only snag is that I want to swap out the clock for a tacho (which i do have) but the 'glass' has the clock setting/winder thing on it - would be good to get this out and swap for a plain one if you know what I mean, I don't think one in this condition is going to come up especially with the correct trip odometer hole in the other side :(
any ideas? again without breaking the plastic...
Cheers

T25 dash binnacle is NOT the greatest design in the world and to my knowledge you can't clean them other than removing clocks from rear. Its a right dust trap to say the least and why a few have fitted other clocks. I guess the idea of that perspex front was to reduce glare but what a joy it'd be to have a recessed flat one you could unclip for cleaning......

Mind you, its a handy place for small change :D

very carefully it can sometimes be done , BUT most of the time a crack or two will appear.

basically they are glued and you have to brake the glue

I disassembled the clocks and used damp earbuds to clean inside the plastic windows
