85 vanagon, with original swivel base to front seats.
When I first got the van I did as much of an overhall, clean up and grease up as I could, but struggled to improve the swivel action on the seats. I took the mechanisim apart, tried grease (no good), the best improvement came from silicone spray but to be honest, not great.
Anyone familiar with a trick or two to get the action slick?
We're off on a 3 month trip and plan park baby cot on a board over front seats when spun to face each other so hoping to make set as easy as possible.

Re: improve swivel to captain seats
I slackened off the securing bolts by a quarter of a turn and this along with some silicone grease made my seats much easier to turn.

The 'Trick' is not to load the swivel plate bolts, just tighten them till they touch. They have nyloc lock nuts on them so won't come undone.
Obviously check to see all plastic bushes are intact and present.
Wipe all the gundge away with a cloth and WD40
Smear the channel with Vasoline
tighten bolts till they touch but don't load at all

Do have the 8 nylon glide pieces in your swivel base? 20b and 20a

Hopefully I'll get it apart today and check. Drawings ........ I like. You haven't got one of t25 westfalia to scale front & side views do you???? ?
Re: improve swivel to captain seats
Took the swivel system apart, all the little nylon type spacers are in place and don't seem overly worn. Applied grease, tried losening the nylon bolts a 1/4 turn but still quite stiff when rotating. It looks like the bottom spacers might be the problem as the swivel plate sits on the spacers and the grease wears off quick.
Do you know where I could get hold or see new nylon spacers (do they exisit?), just in case they are actually worn?
