turbo seals?

Post by dave friday »

Afternoon all, this kinda links to an earlier post"oil slop";if the van is parked with the left hand side lower than the right,on start up i see lots of blue/gray smoke from the exhaust,is this likely to be the turbo oil seals?.

Could be just the oil return feeding back ? if it's just on start up wouldn't say it's a seal mine smokes a bit on start up and then clears think it's normal without a cold start. Leave it warm up and then cover the exhaust pipe with some White card for a second or two will see the oil if it's spitting it out.

No worries Supposedly if it leaks on the exhaust side that indicates the seal is gone as usually oil can get through to the inlet side if I remember correctly I'm sure someone more experienced may be able to throw more light on the whole turbo seal issue
