Broken glow plugs

Post by normandybrit »

What was going to be a quick simple job has turned into a nightmare!
Two of the glow plugs have sheared off in the head of my 1.7 motor. Heat and easy outs didnt work so I've drilled out the vast majority of the steel plug body and I'm going to try to tap the rest out. Can anyone tell me what size tap do I need to get for this? None of the taps in my existing (admittedly cheapo) tap & die kit seem to match the thread on the glow plugs.

Have been out today trying to find a suitable tap, and of course, being France, with a holiday coming up, everything's closed!
The thread seems finer than a 'normal' one for this size (11.63mm to outside of thread with the core being 9.95mm).

Sarran 1955. I'm near Domfront 61350.
