2.1i wbx Help

Post by callanish »

I have an intermittent fault on my 2.1 i wbx which causes the engine which otherwise runs really well to cut out and become very difficult to start unless it is left a while.
Is there anyone out there who knows these engines that I can phone and talk to so I can get an idea what I need to do to sort this out

Thanks

This sounds like a problem I had wth mine a couple of years ago.
I had an auto electrician crawl all over it and even get advice from his son who's an AA mechanic.
He eventually tracked it down to the idle control unit which is about the size of a fag packet and fixed to one side of the engine bay. The unit was isolated and although I have a replacement it's never been fitted but the engine has not cut out since. Sorry can't be more specific but I hope this helps.
Stuart.

If it's a DJ then I'd start with the ignition amplifier as they tend to go through this sort of failure cycle, start and run cold but not hot, failure becomes more frequent, but you need a copy of Bentley for a decent shot at diagnosis on the 2.1
