Re: tdi starter options
Hi mate
JX starter.
you may have to relieve a little of the alloy from under the
brass bushing on the shaft support as they can rub on the edge of the flywheel.
Its not much, and if you get a feeling for how much resistance to turning
there is at the flywheel you can fit it and maybe it will be ok.
Mine didn't need any removed, once i had run it in ignorance !
Of course, you can use engineers blue (or good old black marker pen).
Glad to hear its on its way in, my 2WD's next.
Got a lead on some spiral wound silicon/kevlar intake pipe
SWP 44-50psi, 60 or 62mm same as Mercs AVO are using.
Bell me if your interested.
Crack on fella.

Take 3mm of the flywheel then there is no interference with starter.

Re: tdi starter options
I'm looking at starter options for my install at the moment and keen to get any info. Currently pondering the Passat starter (engine side). These look very like the JX one, but are for a 135-tooth flywheel (vs 132 for JX) with ring gear toward the engine. There's a different version for the 240mm DMF, which is without the 'nose', the placing of the pinion suggests the 240mm flywheel is slightly larger and may not have the 135 teeth, but not yet got one to look at. If anyone has an old one knocking about I'd be interested..
