Steuergerat?

My imported westy has this device under the back seat labelled 'steuergerat', does anyone one know what it does?

Steuergerat is a control unit, it could be a Zig unit for controlling LB charging.

It is usually a control unit for a Webasto or Eberspacher heater.
Something like this?

That's the one. I'm removing the heater because it tried to kill us last week (electrical fire). Will it affect any other bits if i remove the steuergerat?

Don't throw it away! They cost around £300 new.(the control units). It is solely for the heater.
Remove the heater and sell or refurbish it - isn't difficult to refurbish. (sounds like someone made a lash up of the wiring without fuses in line).
