Old split charge set up replace or refurb?

Post by toolsntat »

When I refit my interior I need to sort a few things out
So could I have your thoughts on this please?
The far left fuse has been getting hot and the wire from it has got warm as well  but why?
Do these set ups allow the leisure to charge after the main battery or as well as?

Thanks
Andy

Clearly a home made set up and frankly not very safe as all you fuses are unprotected(fire risk)...Check the Wiki on split charge relays and wiring ,it will give you alot of info on what relays to use and wire grades. As for the fuse and wire getting hot , well that depends what you're running off it (they will get warm). I'd get a better fusebox to (with a cover)

Just bought a new fusebox from Halfords (8-way) thinking this would sort the various retro fitted gadgets on dash that appear to be strapped to ageing fusebox, and give me at least a few spare fuses. Ended up using the lot - bar one. Rear of van also has a fusebox - 6 way. Just shows, in these modern times you need far more fuses than you think. Could have done some with in-line ones I suppose but not a great fan of those. :?

Also, as mine is an early one it uses those feeble and less readily available cartridge fuses. At least new fuses are blade ones and cheap as chips in £1 shops!
