Holiday in Wales

Post by donnieg »

We are going to camperjam and after this we thought that we would go to south Wales and go round the coast to north Wales before heading back home. We have never been there before so we are looking for things to do and see. My wife likes castles and markets like bric and brac and farmers,we prefer campsites close to beaches preferably but will go inland and with a pub close by. I am a keen fisher and i have heard that the seatrout fishing in Wales is very good so i wouldn't mind a crack at that one evening. If anyone can help with some advice that would be great.

Many Thanks
Donnie

Hi
The area around Llanybydder to Cardigan (Teifi) is excellent for sea trout and further north is Harlech castle (near me).
Porthmadog have a big car boot every sunday.
Plenty of camp sites around Wales.

Another question.Would it be advisable to book campsites in advance or can you turn up to most of them and still get in? We will be there in July. And thanks for the replys so far

Stay at Merthyr Farm near Harlech

The owners are canny, you get decent facilities and fantastic views.

I would recommend a visit to the Pembrokeshire coast, the area around Stackpole, there is a stunning beach near Stackpole Quay which will remain nameless, which you can discover for yourself with Google maps in satellite view, theres a campsite nearby called Trefalen Farm (which I didn't visit, no showers but looks very nice), we stayed in ordered luxury at Freshwater West Caravan Club site, the whole area is amazing, we loved Tenby for fish & chips. Further North, near Lanbedr we stayed at Nantcol Waterfalls and absolutely loved it, an idyllic spot for kids. Avoid camping at Shell Island in Summer.
