Similar thread i know, BUT i know the gauges i want. Just need to know the best place to get them. Looking at getting electric oil temp/oil pressure, then maybe volts or water temp or turbo boost.
So where is the best place to get them, with the senders? Kinda want to get this all tied up, so i can maybe fit them in time for my engine swap

i got mine from this company, very help full and easy to deal with, you will need to know what tappings that you have on your engine for the senders, on the wbx the tread is m10x1.0, may be the same for the jx/aaz but worth confirming. if it helps and if you are going to have an oil cooler fitted, i am having a small section of pipe made with a taped thread in line for the oil temp sender, so this will be giving a reading of the oil temp where the oil is doing some thing and as the oil is flowing as opposed to mounting the sender in the oil pressure switch location.

If I was in your position what I would do (of course it might be wrong) is buy your gauges like this new rather than 20 year old worn parts (lesson learned) http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=tim+ ... m270.l1313" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; send the gauges to Dave and get him to fit them ( it is seriously not worth messing about as he will have them fitted before you can blink, but knowing how helpful Futbus Dave is he will show you where they are all connected)

Next run the AAZ for a week or two and see just how hardy these engines are and just monitor the oil temperatures etc, then come down to the place I got my oil cooler bits from and we will make one up and you can fit it, then see the difference using the gauges. You will be shocked

If you get the same set up as I fitted your oil temperature should go from around the 120*c ish level to the 80*c level and it might rise 10*c when working hard but the oil cooler set up I use is bloody excellent, even at high altitudes in France and Spain but I can show you how to fit a switch to over ride your fan if needs be, thats the beauty of having an accurate water temp, oil temp, boost, volt meter, and oil pressure guages you can see what the engine is doing and if you need to click the over ride fan switch simply because you can

I am kind of exited for you, Oh and the AAZ has a spare take off for the oil pressure sender

Thanks both of you, Yes the gauges will most likely get sent to dave, most likely with the oil cooler ( i meant to get a copy of your invoice today jed

) Think it will be best to just get it all done at once. Kinda sorted money wise now.
Will probably have another chat with dave or pm him, as i don't even know what type of senders i need and where they 'plug' in (thread sizes ect, and where does the water temp one go?)
So it seems internet is best place to get them?

Water temp guage sender goes at the back of the head. I would just send the clocks to him and he will get the rest, maybe use the sender from your shagged engine. I know it's only a couple of quid saved but every little helps right?

right it's good to research these things, as some of the gauges come with senders and universal fittings, so these will be the ones i get. Like the look of the TIM ones, not to fussy looking. Now where to fit them.............shall try to think of somewhere original

You dont need gauges .... they are like consultants, they tell you that you are about to die two minutes after you are dead. You need a fuel gauge and a temperature gauge and you've got them already.

You might need a gauge to tell you how hot your gearbox oil is! Paul and I had a great discussion about that today! Still dont know how hot its meant to be !!

I reckon somewhere between hot enough and too hot.

Gauge wise maybe this in place of ashtray

Problem with them is the dashboard design, due to the sloping dash they just wouldn't look right, and would be at a funny angle.

You dont need them, your van stops driving when its run out of fuel and steam bellows out of the side vents when the engine has blown its head gasket
