T25 Westfalia Joker rubber seals for pop-top/luggage rack

Post by Clydebuilt »

Hello,
I want to replace the rubber seal on my '87 T25 Westfalia Joker T25 pop-top roof and luggage rack and wondered if anyone can recommend where I could obtain this seal? I have been told by a reputable VW parts dealer that this seal is "completely different" on T25 Jokers than non-Joker models.
If anyone (with a Joker model) has replaced their pop-top roof & luggage rack seal I would be very interested to hear where they got the new seal from and how they replaced it?
Also, does anyone know how the luggage rack comes off? There are 4 round smooth-head brass screws which hold the rack onto the cab roof and I assume they have to come off - but how? They don't have a "slot" to fit a screwdriver and aren't "shaped" for a spanner or similar to fit & unscrew them.
There are folk selling T25 roof seals on eBay, but they say their seals "fit all T25's" and don't answer my queries re: "completely different Joker roof seals", so CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE???

Cheers

Two screws (flathead) on front and same on each side, then when you pop roof up there is a few nuts to undo along back edge then it comes off. Just took mine off to clean, amazing what collects under that luggage rack, as for the seals, as far as i'm aware the only difference is jokers have a luggage rack cali's/atlantics don't. justkampers/vwbusshop ect all sell them

Thanks Lloyd for your comment. What do you mean by "luggage rack cali's?"
I've seen the (four) screws at the back of the luggage rack you mention - but wasn't aware you could just unscrew them, I'll give it a go :!:

Add some mental punctuation...

the only difference is jokers have a luggage rack - cali's/atlantics don't.

The California/Atlantic replaced the Joker/Club-Joker, with the only major difference being a different pop-top roof front section.

Now I understand - hadn't heard about the Atlantic/Californian T25's!
Had been trying to write "Cali" in italics but it came out weird!

Thanks for your tip Lloyd, will let the site know how I get on once I try removing the luggage rack....wish me luck!

Chris :ok
