Best Power Inverter

Hi Guys, I hope somebody may be able to give me a little bit of guidance??

My van currently doesnt have any for of power or hook up etc. I have just bough a brand new leisure battery along with a split charge kit.

Can anybody give me an indication of the best way now to use 240v power, I know I have to get an inverter of some kind??? Can anybody give me an idea which may be the best one to go for?

Even better, has anybody got any pictures of their own leisure battery set ups??

If you want an honest opinion then here it is: Invertors are not ideal as a permanent 230 volt source, they are strickly a temporary solution for occasional use only and then only for fairly low power consumers.
The amp draw on the leisure battery can be immense working back from 230 to 12volts so this makes invertors very limitting as in things like hair driers, heaters are a complete no no and more frugal consumers need to be used but for short periods.
Most thinking of equiping their vans would install 12 volt where possible (12 volt lighting, TV's that work directly off 12 volts, 12 volt laptop adapters etc) then install a seperate 230 volt circuit with sockets for when hookup is available.

Bloody hell I wish you'd mentioned that at the weekend Kev.

My 400w just not quite man enough for the job. A couple of hundred watts would probably make all the difference.

Can you chop 200w off yours and stick them in an envelope care of Proctors please.

I had the dilemma of: do I go the whole hog and fit a 240v complete hook up system or do I simply buy a mains circuit hook up board from JK?? I ended up buying the plug board kit so we can hook up when stationary, I just wanted something for the kids to run power off whilst on the move and to use power whilst at places like vanfest where there is no hook ups!

what is it you need 240v for?????? if needed that bad at shows get a small genny (trust me I have to cart one to shows for the extremely important wifes hair straighteners!)
