speedo clicking now not working

Post by nickster72 »

Hello everyone,

Well I was happily driving along the other day, open roads nice sunshine and then suddenly I start hearing this clicking coming from my instrument panel. As few miles later and I noticed the speedo needle jumping erractially, this went on few about half a mile and then the needle went to zero.

I've checked the cable at both ends and all seems to be well.

Interestingly the speedo is clocking up the miles but not showing the speed, so i'm thinking it may be that the cable is not properly en gaging with the speedometer.

Has anyone had this happened to them ? I've really no idea why it's happening or how to resolve, so any help you can offer would be very well helpful :)
I asked for a car, I got a computer. How's that for being born under a bad sign?

usually thiswill be the cable about too then breaking .
but as the miles clock up it can only be the speedo head.

make sure the cable is correctly in the head and the bearing grease cap still has a square not round hole . also make sure the cable is not pulled too far out of the grease cap. thus not being in the speedo head enough

Thanks for your advice.

I replaced both the speedo cable and centre cap as they were both worn. My speedometer now works properly :)

However having replaced the centre cap I have realised that it is meant to be for the T2 as it protrudes further out so now I can't put my hub cap back on that wheel doh !

JK dont sell one for the T25, anyone know where I can get a centre cap with the square hole from ?

Nick
