That's looking very very very shiny.

Re: hot zinc spraying (Final)
i hope hes correct as its just cost me 400 euros for what looks like not a lot of work seeing as i stripped it all and made all the steel templates to go inside the window apertures etc.
Hi Mel, think thats €400 well spent
certainly we can all benefit by it

If you can get good paint adhesion well enough on surface, then looking as good as most other alternatives, better than most!
Good luck

Re: hot zinc spraying (Final)
Hi, concept seems good but picks 28 + 29 show a gap in the seam, does this defeat the object? also picks 33 +18 the lower screen area, has this just been blasted and sprayed without the hole welded up etc, did it just get filled ?
I ask as it would to me make more sense to have all the rot cut out , blasted, welded where needed , then sprayed as a protective barrier, just seems odd to me and from the picks I cant really tell whats been done,
otherwise looks nice and the choice of colours work well
mike

hi mickey,
the photos your talking of ,around the windscreen area were welded and then zinc coated again ,hence the colour difference on the pics. the gap in the panels is where there the old sealant was removed due to the shotblasting and i think that ,yes there is a gap but its where the sealant was obvoiusly ropey and the sand removed it. on the plus side it means lots of hot zinc deep in the seams which can only be a bonus in my mind. please take in to account i'm not the be all and end all of knowledge on rust prevention but i do know more than the average joe. on the other hand i hope it works (fingers crossed) and if so, other members can look for a similar solution in the uk. if not come over here i'll put you up and you can get it done over here and have a holiday at the same time germany is a great place and it'll be free. apart from the work on your bus obviously. what i would say is go for it its got to be worth a try and it better than filler and also puts metal back where metal has been removed.obviously if my bus falls apart in 6 months i'm never gonna post on here again

Oh no no no, ! no problems at all with it, just when looking at a load of picks its not 100% interpreting whats been done and in what order
which is why when looking it seemed that the screen bit was blasted then sprayed which I thought at the time a bit odd.
seams , yes dont want to be grind metal away but at the same time have to get the old sealant out for the following to adhere
Be good to keep a note of things and see how it performs, but at the price, c ant go wrong, we get stuff metal sprayed but hard facings never thought of it for this

hi all,
as said fingers crossed i dont start getting rusty streaks down the seams in a couple of months but will keep you all updated as to how long it keeps the tinworm at bay.better be a good while its cost enough to get it looking like this
