Fuel tank straps

Post by Rogue Trooper »

What a bugger! Bought a pair a couple of months back from Heir Brickwerks and as im changing all the fuel lines thought i had better fit them (plus the old ones are swiss cheese)

Are the top bolts captive and if so how the hell do they come out?

My Plan of attack (if I cant get the captive nut off) is to tape a nut to the ratchet spanner and also tape the washer and "slip" washer to the upper bracket.

Any advice appreciated!

Oh and the Fuel tank is still in the vehicle

Thanks :ok

If you can get away without changing the top straps it's a lot easier, the bolts tend to be quite hard to shift and the corrosion on the exposed threads behind the captives can be the deal breaker - most peeps take the tank out when doing the lot
