Re-fixing hightop fibreglass question
I will be re-attaching my roof fibreglass after removing it to tackle the rust recently. I just wondered, when it's time to put it back, do you just run sealant round the van roof or run the sealant round the hightop or run it round both? Don't want to screw it up when the time finally comes........

Re: Re-fixing hightop fibreglass question
We run it down the sides of the van roof, then lower the fibreglass roof into position, fill the front and back from the inside, run some down the sides from the inside. Less messy this way, any that is in gutter can be cut back when dry to give you clear gutters after the install.
Hope that makes sense.
If you want talking through it give me a call

Don't need screws
Both together-
Just run lots of it around inside once you have it in position on the roof. That way you will have no gaps where the two failed to meet.

Re: Re-fixing hightop fibreglass question
Thanks for the advice fellas but I won't have access to the inside due to the interior skin on the van roof etc. Liberal application required just to be sure then...............

one thing for defo, before you refit the roof get rid of that moisture soaking fiberglass, either get new and bag it up or get the silver foil bubble wrap!

Re: Re-fixing hightop fibreglass question
the fibreglass wool is dryer than the proverbial witches tit James. The water was getting in through the window cut outs (the inner/outer skins join sealant had prised apart due to the fibreglass outer skin bulging outwards when people stood on the roof I think).jamesc76 wrote:get rid of that moisture soaking fiberglass
I'll probably still dump it though.....................
