Replacing early water pump? Dg

I'm going to replace long water and heater hoses with ss and rubber respectively and as water out of system thought to fo pump and thermostat at the same time as of unknown age and engine always runs cool. Any tips on water pump removal or pics or warnings of best procedure- thanks.
