560 miles later , horsham to devon , devon to eden project and back ,then home ... poor little 1.6D did not miss a beat ..quite a few first gear hills !! but we lived with it.

should go up hills better with SVX engine , (now need to sort collection )

power steering worked a treat over the weekend. got a small list of todo's after sleeping in it for 3 nights with family of 4. but very impressed on how it worked out.

knackerd now , bit of ebay . bit of beer and bed i think

wow time flys , and nothing much gets done.

still not fully stripped the SVX loom !

MOT getting closer , and some welding WILL need to be done for the MOT.
my friend that does MOT's picked up on a few joints / bushes that needed replacing for MOT.

my 2nd had LHD powersteering rack , was not such a good buy , my friend said the track rods where worn ,so ordered a new set from brickwerks
he nicely fitted them for me saturday , allong with top suspension joints , and new poly bush roll bar bushes.

must get welding done this week , at least the parts needed for the MOT.

got some welding done at last... MOT getting closer.
front arch / b post needed fixing (drivers LHD )
started cutting out rot, will have to do side sill at somepoint , it has been done in the past but not well ( saw when i had fridge out )

Image

roughly cut off arch , as that needed semi replacing...
Image

forgot to take photos , but filled in internal holes , then tacked B post repair panel on :
Image

had to repair side panel as well , edge had completly gone ! , not the best job , but will see me out for awhile :

Image

again not enough photos , filled in the panel that creates the inner wing,

trial fit of wing ,

Image

fully welded wing , and slapped some primer on ,

Image

sealed all underside , and stone chipped. will do for a few years :)

not happy with B post panel , should have spent more time on it , its not long enough ! , but will re-do when i do outer sill
(will lengthen other side when i come to do that ... )

I've been watching this thread for a while now as I'm just starting to go through the same motions.
But welding wise I'm having to wait for a friend to finish his mini first ( only 6 weeks behind what I had planned).
So painfull having to wait for other people.
Any how it's looking good but just wondering where your getting you panels from us it heritage?

Ps see your van most days as I live around the corner I should pop around and say hello maybe?
Keep up the good work :ok

Cheers Matt your a gent.
Do you find its better to replace the whole panel rather than patching cause i have a few spots here and there and wonder if it justifies a full panel.

i say its like an iceberg , the bit of rust you see is only 10% of it , 90% more rust behind .

i am around sunday afternoon playing on mine ( i hope ) pop round and show us.

it all depends what you want

SVX loom now out ! :

Image

just waiting for list of parts and pricing from rjes before placing the order.

today i got the whole day (thanks wife ) to work on other side arch / b post / filler cap area

started to cut rot out :
Image

as allways , its worse behind :
Image

had to extend the VW heritiage B post panel , as its a little short ...
Image

panel tacked in , had to make a new panel above as well , as the VW panel is only the bottom part of the b - post
Image

not the nicest , but he is me extended the panel :
Image

Image

then started repairing the inner wing
Image

once all that was welded in , the wing could go on , and a slap of paint.
Image

B post is not the best , as it had a load of filler in , so will need some more when the re-spray comes around...

but for now , thats good enough for MOT ... i might not win any awards

thats it for now ...
