When I bought my van the wipers and the heater blower didnt work , the battery was dead so I never bothered to much with them as the welding was the first job. As the welding is nearing completion, I had a faff about with the electrics .
To cut a long story short the heater blower came to life and the wipers started working normally ( as in when you turned them on) with me doing nothing more than turning the ignition on. Now they didnt do that saturday.
After a couple of goes relay 21 started clicking really fast , non stop .Even when I turned off the ignition and took the key out. Had a panic moment and pulled it out. My question is what does relay 21 do? My haynes manual is a bit vague with the early fuse box as mine is a 1983. I have a bentley manual aswell but this dosent list the relays (unless I missed it).
If the relay is a wiper relay how come its knocking the heater out too?
Theres probably more to this than meets the eye but its not a problem at the moment , just curious to find out whats going on/gone wrong.
thanks
James

Relay 21 clicking (all the time)

Haven't got a relay list to hand, but a good place to start with any of that electrical gubbins is to remove and clean the earth crowns above the fuse box nearside on the A Pillar.

Re: Relay 21 clicking (all the time)
A quick google search suggests that 21 is the hazard relay

Re: Relay 21 clicking (all the time)
Thanks for that
Its somewhere to start at least, so the relay would have no direct effect on the function of the heating and the wipers then? Its quite obvious I know but ive seen stranger things happen on old vehicle wiring.
thanks
