Carb issues??

Post by gazmate »

So the Mrs was out the other day in her bus (T3/T25) and had some problems with it and the engine stopped running. It still starts and if you rev it up, it keeps running but it will not run on low/normal revs or it will just cut out.

She called the AA they came had a look took the idle screws out but seemed to think that too much fuel was getting in the carb?

He seemed to think that the float may be stuck or the pin maybe broken?

I was thinking maybe I’ll get a carb rebuild kit and do that as a start and go from there??

I am assuming the carb is a pierburg 2E, as it has that wrriten on it but apart from that I dont know a lot about these? The engine is a 1.9 petrol but not sure what code or type?

Anyone had any similar issues or advice? :ok

Need to get it sorted for big bang…………

Also on a slightly different issue anyone see any cheap half decent middle row of seats that match we may be interested. Would be useful for days out if we take friends.

Hello and welcome to the forum...
An introduction would have been nice
like hello my names so and so I'm from the such and such area I have had this van for blah blah years... not much to expect but we like it that way on here.

Regarding your issue.....
make sure the idle cut off valve is working (switching on and off.)
The valve is on the front of the carb and has a black wire with a white in yellow connector to it
remove it from the carb and check the hole covers and uncovers when the ignition is turned on and off.

If you search the bold words on the mechanical forum there will be a few other posts turn up as this seems to be a common thing these days

Nothing to do with your issue but you seem to have the same alloys on as me. You can get merc centre caps to fit if you trim down the front grease caps.

Just work how how much you need to remove then remove the grease caps, scribe a line all the way round where you want to chop down and hacksaw to lenght. Centre caps then fit :ok
