Hi There all,
Is there any campers on here with a bluebird rock and roll bed kind enough to measure the distance from the battery box to the start of the bed?
I've been told that they are 6ft from the rear door, but as the rear door bows a bit I cannot get an exact measurement.
My reason for this is that I have got a small unit running down the right side and I was wondering if I'm going to have enough space for a full width bed.

My Unit is only 35" long so I have plenty of space for the bed!
I've been wanting to get a bed installed for ages but couldn't afford it, but this year my insurance has more than doubled (for reasons unknown) and the only way I seem to be able to get the insurance down to a sensible level is to install a bed and get a camper policy. All Glynwoods state is that the van must be Insulated, have windows and a bed.
The saving on the insurance will pay for the bed.. Hurah all round!!

Don't forget Melvin that you will need to contruct a raised platform for over the engine as the when the seat is in the bed position it is higher than the engine bay

Oh Yea,
I have read a bit about this, do you know if they come with instructions on making the said platform? or are there any links to where they can be found? So looking forward to having the bed fitted as whenever were out driving I'd say 'look there's a camper like ours' and the missus would reply' no, your's is a builders van'. Now I can truly call it a campervan

No instructions. Not sure if anywhere makes them. With your's being standard full width someone may make a kit, but I doubt it as every bed is probably different
You can make your own from 12mm or 18mm plywood or take your van to someone who can make you one. eg http://www.coolconversions.co.uk/ or a local carpenter
I'm currently measuring up and calculating the size of pieces I will need ready for a trip to the local timber merchants in the next week to get the pieces I need cut. I'm going to incorporate a hinged lid for easy access to the engine. Going to make a simple ply box frame then make a template for the lid that the mattress sits on so when it's cut it's a perfect fit.
