

Is this engine and pump the same as the MK1 golf by any chance?

Did your van start before you broke the shut off solenoid?
Check battery is fully charged, check glowplugs are working, check starter motor cranking fast enough, check main glowplug fuse strip in black box, check your new solenoid is working ( you can hear a click when power is supplied to it).
They can sometimes take a while to start again. Did you fill new fuel filter with diesel?
You could still have an air lock.
