Rear fog light MOT requirements
Van has been for MOT today and failed but on not a lot brake flexi, imbalance in front brakes (been stood a while) dodgy beam pattern on n/s headlight and rear fog not working got all the bits to do it and swapped inner light clusters around on rear cos only one has terminal in it for fog light and got it working.Question is do you have to have a warning light on the dash to say its on? As the led in the switch is no longer of this earth.

Agreed, mine was about to fail on that last time, but I took the binnacle thing off the dash and it was just a dodgy spade connector on the back of the switch
Re "imbalance in front brakes (been stood a while)"
This has often puzzled me.
Picture this =
Van fils MOT on front brake pads being worn out.
Disks OK but not "as new".
Fit new pads.
We all know it takes a good few miles to bed the pads in (it even says that on the paperwork in the box)
Van fails MOT on poor or imbalanced front brakes.
What are you supposed to do ?
You can't drive it around for 100 miles to bed them in without an MOT can you !
It even happens to some extent when you fit new disks along with the pads.
It's never actually been an issue for me, but I do ponder on such things !

Re: Rear fog light MOT requirements
Yes but with new disc, pads and everything like caliper slides and piston free, then they should not be imbalanced. May be a little low on total brake efficeincy i.e lower effort than if they were bedded in but think that the imbalance would not sort it self out when brakes get bedded in. May be be a alittle worse when they are. My opinion anyway and in my experince as a tester of 10+ years, abit of common sense is never to far away.

That seems a LOT of things, on which to fail an MOT inspection!
Yes, one does need tell-tale warning lights for rear fog lamps and front fog lamps

Not for front fogs, since they're never tested.
