Which oil for 1600CT air cooled petrol

As above really, need to service the van soon and just wondering what oil is best to use for my 1600 air cooled 1980 T25?

Have done a bit of research on the internet. Just Kampers recommend:

Morris Classic Motor Oil SAE 30. Cheapest here if anyone is interested?

I'm running a CT engine,and use 10-40 multigrade diesel engine oil.

Many years ago I was a great fan of Morris of Shrewsbury 30 grade oil, on the basis that an Aircooled runs at a pretty constant temp, so multi grade is superfluous.

30 grade oil is available cheaply for lawnmowers.

Most important is the dipstick oil temp test. After say 1/2 hour driving stop and test the temp of the oil on the dipstick with your finger. It should be hot but not uncomfortably so. If really hot, check the settings on your engine. I run with an SVDA distributor, no electronics, set at 8 degrees BTDC, and get 110 kph max with 28 mpg unladen.

Oh no...not the oil thread again!
VW never put anchient single weight oil in a T3 nor did they ever use 10W40 Diesel specific.

Most people use 20W50 in their Aircooled's (tends to make them a little more oil tight) some will suggest 15W40, BOTH mineral and either would be fine.
There isn't ONE right answer, VW would have used the 20W50 as the normal refill back in the early 80's and then by the mid 80's the same vehicle would have been filled with the newer 15W40 mineral (I was there working as a mechanic at a main VAG garage and thats pretty much what happened)
I can just predict the replies now....'well I've run my engine on Freg blogg's vegatable oil for the last twenty years and it has never broken down!....all I can say to this is: WHATEVER!!!!
