If we're talking 8x8, then I gotta mention the Czech Tatra T813. Here's a pic I took of one at last year's Beltring show, there were two in a convoy of about a dozen trucks from eastern Germany (I'd love to have seen them on the road !) They did a super display in the main event ring at the show.

The T813 has an air-cooled multi-fuel V12. Apparently after the fall of the iron curtain, quite a number of T813 have gone into civilian hands, some being used for 'sport' ! One day I'd love to go to the Mohelnice truck trials, held in May.

Obviously there are other fine 8x8 trucks, but there something extreme about the Tatra that appeals..
Syncrosport (taking a break as of summer 2024)
Volkswagen Transporter, reloaded.
