CADAC BBQ's

Hi all,

Thinking of getting one so whats the best option(s)?

ive got one that screws on top of a gas bottle its great with the griddle pan on but rubbish with the bbq part on

Was bought a CADAC Safari Chef LP for my birthday about 18 months ago. It packs up well and has been used for lots of outdoor cooking. The hotplate and the wok lid are great. We regularly do pancakes when we travel and last Dubfreeze the wok was great for knocking up a tasty paella. Apart from boiling water the CADAC is almost used more than the hob in the van and lets us move the kitchen outside.

Had ti for three years now and wouldn't be without it. it does everything, bbq, grill, stir fry, paella. We use it for breakfast and supper. The only thing we use the van for is to make the tea!

They take up a bit of space though so you have to leave it outside when the beds are made up. So i'm always a bit worried it will not be there in the morning.

Size wise the Safari Chef is good, the legs all fold into the underside and the lids and plates fit together in a neat carry bag. Too be honest the bulkiest part is the 7kg butane cylinder we use with it.

We have the Easi Chef Deluxe and it has been brilliant, It is one of the bigger ones from Cadac but does pack away nice and neatly,
My only gripe has been the main burner pan does tend to get stuck on the stand (single tube) I.m not sure if the three legged carry cheff would be better in this respect.
It runs straight from the BBQ take off point on a 5 metre length of gas tube (under the van (gas is on the opposite side to the sliding door) The higher pressure from the Westy regulator doesn't seem to make any difference to the flame (runs blue and not too big)
In the summer we don't use anything else,

We have a Safari chef, its brilliant, small , compact and easy to store in van. We use the griddle the most, just soak after use and wipe clean.............easy peasy! Search around for best deal we paid £50 for ours!

cobbs are the top tool and they are cold to touch so no risk of getting burnt ,look on you tube for videos see for yourself

think you need to weigh up the costs of fuel

cob is bbq briquetts , cadac is gas

we use a cobb and found it great when we were in spain/france as briquetts are universal everywhere as opposed to gas which has different fittings in eurpoe

also what will you be cooking?
just about anything will cook breakfast but how much gas will the cadac use to cook a full roast dinner including the chicken or a loaf of bread?

the cobb uses about 30p of charcoal

I had the HP one before I fitted the gas tank which was great for a couple of uses until the gas pressure dropped.

I changed the base for a LP one and it is excellent.

Saying that I carry the cast iron dutch oven and the cast iron griddle for across both cooker rings I thought I would keep the theme going and I just bought this,



It does say "Industrial cooker ring" on the box and because my old BBQ stayed on the roof in all weathers all year it fell apart in a few months. I am quite confidant that if I wang the griddle on top of this turbo strength cooker ring it will make a good out door cooking device that should last a lifetime.
