Popping exhaust

Post by chuckle-bus-tom »

The exhaust on my 2.1MV is popping from a teet or nipple on the opposite corner of the silencer to the tailpipe, facing downwards. It's a new thing, so I'm guessing something should either be on it or in it? It would be great to not have to get a new back-box, so does anyone have an idea of what the fix is?

Thanks
Tom

I dont know much about MV vans but they have a lamber sensor and that is where it might go maybe. Your not getting shocking MPG are you (apart from the shocking MPG you usually get from a petrol  )

Aiden or Neil will be along shortly

small threaded boss facing down on the J pipe is for connecting the VW emmisions gear, there should be a cap on it; if I can get the cap off mine you can have it as I have a new J pipe to go on as I now have a 2" hole directly above that boss, in the meantime stick a cork in it to stop air being sucked in as that will cause the lambda to report weak mix and the ecu to run over rich and waste fuel

Cheers guys!

The undoings of the van being sat doing sweet FA for a year by the sea are rearing their ugly head at an alarming rate!

Jed, the la-la-la-lambada is tucked up on the underside as I found, as this was my first suspicion too.

Aiden, that would be great, but in the meantime I appreciate such a valid excuse to keep drinking bottles of wine until I find one with a real cork in it! :trunk
