Water flow direction help

Hi guys,

Just need to check something.

Which way way does the water flow into the radiator on a diesel.

I.e does it enter at the top or at the bottom? And which pipe feeds the bottom e.g the pipe from the bottom of the pump to the bottom of the radiator...

Just need to check set my mind at rest.

I did see this but was confused as to what it was

Am I right in thinging it's a radiator with the core removed?

yes it is removed as the pipework on the side of the generic core is the most important aspect

That's spot on Kev,

So the pipe that moves up to the top by the bleed screw should be the return And the pipe at the bottom is the inlet.

So I'm guessing that

(Top) Return to water pump & (bottom) inlet to cyl head

I will be checking my van tomorrow just to make sure

As you can see the hoses attach at the bottom of the rad.
It is easy to mix them up.
If your rad warms up bottom first... Then its plumbed up right

Well I swapped the pipes round today, looks like they have been the wrong way round ever since I got the van!

Just need to find a pictures of the rad fan switches to check the wires are correct on these.

Haynes has the wiring colours ... and it's a plug in connector so no confusion I would think on a two speed fan

Time to get a Haynes then maybe! I have an early van so 2x2 pin switches.

Thanks again for all your help Kev! Shows how thermally efficient a diesel is to have not over heated with the pipe work the wrong way round!

Just connect the wires together if you want to test the fan.
I guess you new that though!
