Inside your oil pressure warning switch

Being of an enquiring turn of mind I decided to cut open my recently failed oil warning light switch to see why it had failed. Inside is a fairly weak spring pushing together two round brass contacts which are in contact with each other. Electrical contact between them is by 3 small raised pushed out "pips" on one contact. . A small nylon spigot pushes them apart when oil pressure rises. Two of these "pips" were severly corroded and the other one looked a bit dirty. It all adds to the sum of human knowledge.

i'm still struggling w my oil pressure switch -
changed the low one - no problem -
sits on lower side of engine -

the high pressure switch lives in a little hideaway next to the oil pump -
facing down - looking at the front of the engine -
you can just see the blade on top of the switch sticking out on the photo -

my problem - no wire to it!
anybody got a photo - any ideas what wire should be attached to this switch - colour? - and where it should go once it leaves the switch?
a photo would be ideal -

It's another brown wire and it crosses the nearside head and joins the loom at the same 2 wire block as the low pressure switch.

depends on age, not all 1.9s have both. Maybe your van has a later engine.
As Ian says, there should be a white plastic junction somewhere near the front lh corner of the engine, which will go into the junction box as either a blue, or yellow wire with a black trace on most vans.

early and late early vans dont all have the BoD , so dont have the second oil pressure sender
