caravelle dash/clocks
Hi i have a set of 1984 caravelle clocks. can i fit these straight into my 1984 converted panel van.
Re: caravelle dash/clocks
just make sure the connector block goes the same way - there are 2 types horizontal and vertical.
yours is on the change so may have oil buzzer fitted , or may not but all should work the same

Re: caravelle dash/clocks
changing from horizontal to vertical can be done but some wires in the multiplug need moving- can never remember which ones, more trial and error, BUT if you do this wrong you risk damaging the ribbon!
also early stuff only had one oil wire, later can have 1 or 2 .
if the blue ribbon on the later clocks(prob does) goes to behind the speedo unit AND has a connector on it( some ribbons goto behind the speedo but are not connected ) then your new clocks use 2 oil pressure switches - 1 for light , 1 for buzzer
i have put late clocks in an early van before but i ended up with no oil lamp. a few years later and with more experience i could prob get the light to work now!
if your van does not have 2 oil pressure switches it will prob not have the coil feed tothe front of the van ( green wire from coil, into black box in engine bay then to front of van) in which case to run the revcounter you will need to fit anoter wire for this.
